Bob Young Invitational tees off Friday morning

A complete 128 player field will tee-off starting Friday morning in the 52nd Bob Young Invitational Golf Tournament at the Kap Golf Club.

Manager Andre Robichaud says everyone was signed up by March 1st in a matter of just a few hours.

“We’ve got people coming from all over the province, London area, Sudbury, Ottawa, and even have former residents coming in from Pennsylvania,” he said. “We are going to have a full and jammed packed weekend at the Kap Golf Club.”

Robichaud says the lack of rain is making the golf course extremely dry and fast. He expects the players to be firing some very low rounds.

Robichaud invites fans to come by and check it out.

“We have Yvon’s Home Hardware shootout challenge on Friday night,” he said. “On Saturday people can come out and enjoy a beverage and watch the golf, Saturday night we’ve got North Country Brotherhood from 7:30 on. Sunday, come watch the leaders down the stretch.”

The championship flight is expected to hit the final few holes around seven o’clock on Sunday night.

The golf club planted close to 200 trees over the past seven years, and Robichaud says they are all coming along great, but it will still take time for them to mature.
