Police Reminding Drivers to Stay Off Closed Highways

In a matter of two days members with the James Bay OPP issued over 20 provincial offence notices for driving on closed highways. Police are reminding drivers this comes along with a $110-fine and adds three demerit points to your driving record. The OPP says you may not be covered under your insurance if you get involved in a collision while travelling on a closed highway.

Local police are stressing the importance of staying off closed roads and highways as this poses a risk to the drivers and emergency personnel who are working in that area.  The OPP is also reminding drivers to be safe on the roads over the winter months.
