Food Banks Auction will Help Less Fortunate in our Community

Recent studies have shown that more and more people are using the services offered by the Food Bank. The Ontario Association of Food Banks released a new report showing over 330,000 people in the province turn to food banks every month.

Rotarian and Organizer of the Food Bank in Kapuskasing Rick Bartlett says they’ve seen an increase of people in our community using these services as well. Bartlett says with Christmas just around the corner he’s expecting more people to rely on the services they offer.

The Kapuskasing Food Bank is having their auction tonight. Bartlett says this auction was previously held by the Kinsmen Club and when they did it the proceeds went towards the club, however everything raised during the auction tonight will go towards the local Food Bank.

Bartlett adds they have a wide variety of items to choose from and the auction will get started at 7:00pm upstairs at the legion. There’s no cost to participate and there will be beef or wild meat stew with a cash bar available.
