If a new law is put into place it would force drivers to pull over to the side of the road for volunteer firefighters. A family in Northern Ontario is trying to make it easier for volunteer firefighters to get to emergencies and has started a petition that would force drivers to pull over for green flashing lights.
Tim Brazeau from North Bay says green is the colour these volunteers use while responding to fires and depending on the size of the community they may need to be out on the road quite a bit.
Brazeau says already 1,500 people have signed this petition and his family is hoping to talk to politicians before the end of the year about getting such a law put into place.
