OPP Reminding Drivers to be Safe on the Road

Crime Prevention Week continues in the province and the James Bay Detachments of the OPP are reminding drivers to be safe out on the roads.

Police would like to remind everyone to buckle up and put down all handheld devices. The OPP says in 10 years over 850 people died in crashes where not wearing a seatbelt played a contributing factor. Police say two-thirds of those deaths were men and most of the time it’s the driver that’s killed.

The OPP says on top of always wearing a seat belt, they are counting on motorists to drive within the speed limit and not allow themselves to be distracted while driving.
