Kapuskasing to Hire Relief Crossing Guard

The Town of Kapuskasing has approved the recommendation to hire a relief crossing guard for the Brunelle Road and Government Road location.

Fire Chief and Manager of Protective Services, Pat Kennedy, says the main reason they need to hire this crossing guard is because it’s such a high traffic area. Kennedy adds this would be for to help cover any days off for the two current crossing guards they have at that location. He says these crossing guards work before school, after school and at lunch time.

Previously the town had decided if they couldn’t reach an agreement with local school boards about sharing the cost of the crossing guards the service would stop by next year. Kennedy adds they have reached out to the schools, but have yet to hear anything back.
