Energy Savings Tips for Daylight Savings Time

The clocks go back this weekend and Hydro One is providing some tips to save on your electricity bill. As the days get shorter, lights come on earlier and those electricity bills can start creeping up.

The utility company says placing a lamp in the corner of the room will help increase the brightness because the glow reflects off the walls. They also say to make sure to dust light bulbs and fixtures as dirt can absorb up to half of the light that’s produced.

Hydro One says LED lights use less energy than other bulbs and it might be a good idea to consider using a timer or motion sensor for outdoor lights. They say it’s important everyone in your family turns the lights off after leaving the room, even if it’s just for a short period of time.

Don’t forget the clocks go back early Sunday morning and for more energy saving tips you can visit Hydro One’s website here.
