Overnight Winter Parking Ban in Effect

You’re no longer allowed to park on the side of the street overnight. Many communities have started their winter parking bans including Kapuskasing and Cochrane.

From midnight to 7:00am any vehicles parked on the side of the street could be ticketed or towed at the owners expense. Cochrane Fire Chief Richard Vallee says until we have snow on the ground, instead of giving the resident a ticket, they will receive a warning letter reminding them not to do it again. The overnight winter parking ban is in effect to prevent vehicles from blocking roadways that snowplows might be trying to clear and runs from the start of November until the end of April.

In Kapuskasing you could be hit with a $100 fine and cost of towing the vehicle which works out to be $150 plus taxes and in Cochrane the fines were increased from $20 to $45 this year and they do not tow the vehicles.
