A labour disruption has been avoided in the Township of Black River-Matheson. After several months of negotiations, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1490 have agreed to go to binding arbitration.
The union had rejected an offer in mid-October but will go to arbitration to reach agreement.
The Local 1490 represents 16 employees in the township and back in 2014 the workers were locked out for seven weeks.
