The council chambers in Kapuskasing is being brought up to the 21st century with new technology that will also benefit the court system.
Mayor Alan Spacek says it’s been decades since the facility was upgraded and the changes will make it easier for the public to follow what’s going on at council.
The upgrades will also benefit the court system as they will be the first court room in Northern Ontario to offer video conferencing for expert testimonials and possibly video bail hearings.
Spacek says some of the upgrades that will be done include adding a sound system to better hear what’s being said at the table and the ability to broadcast and live stream the council meetings with video conferencing capabilities.
