At the next town council meeting, former Kapuskasing councillor Frank Siebert will be sworn in.
Councillor Laurier Guillemette gave his resignation back in September leaving three options to replace his seat.
These options included selecting someone from the previous election based on polling numbers, holding a new election or appointing someone from the community.
CAO Yves Labelle says council decided to go with the next person on the list from the previous election. He said it makes sense appointing someone who has already done the job before and knows the town.
Siebert is expected to be sworn in at the next council meeting.
