Cochrane Man Charged for Failing to Obtain Permits

A Cochrane man is being fined under the Public Lands Act. The man was in court at the end of September where he pleaded guilty to unlawfully filling shore lands without a permit.

The man used sand to backfill a wooden wall he had installed on the shore lands of his property. The MNRF investigated and was able to determine the resident hadn’t obtained the proper permits.

The man from Cochrane has been fined $2,000 for the incident that took place last summer.

The MNRF would like to remind the public that any work along shore lands requires a permit.

To report a natural resources violation, you can contact your local ministry office or if you want to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers.
