The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities Board of Directors met last week to discuss several issues affecting the region.
The board talked about the un-affordable electricity rates, recent announcements to cut eight per cent from hydro bills and further reductions for customers living in the low density category. Another concern addressed was the fact that FedNor is not receiving the financial resources it should.
FONOM President and Mayor of Kapuskasing, Alan Spacek says it’s important to come together, hear concerns from across the Northeast and come together as a region.
Other topics covered at the meeting include reviewing policy issues and research that is done in the North.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be done in the New Year.
