$1.1-Billion in Cuts to Federal Health Care

The NDP is calling on the Liberals to reverse their decision to follow through with cuts to health care.

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus says Northern Ontario will be impacted by these cuts so it’s important for people to speak up.

Spending for federal health care is expected to drop from six to three per cent next year. That means $1.1-billion dollars will be cut out of the health care system.

Angus says rural and northern regions will certainly feel the impacts of the Trudeau government walking away on public health care.

NDP Health Critic, Don Davies says this goes against what the Liberals promised when they said they would invest billions into health care. Instead the Liberal government announced they’re planning on implementing the cuts that were announced under the Conservatives.

Fixing health care remains a top priority for the NDP as they roll out a new campaign in defense of Canada’s public health system.
