Problem Gambling Prevention Week

This week is problem gambling prevention week in the area.

According to research from the Responsible Gambling Council over 2,000 people in the Kapuskasing and Cochrane District area are negatively impacted by problem gambling. The same study shows about 3.5 per-cent of the province has a severe gambling problem.

Early signs of having a gambling problem include experiencing extreme highs and lows from gambling wins and losses and playing more to win back losses.

Addiction worker at North Cochrane addiction services, Chantal Boissonneault says for those with a serious problem gambling is more than just a game.
