The Town of Smooth Rock Falls is rolling out a roadside waste and recycling program this fall.
This will be the first time recyclables are collected in the town. Waste and recycling carts will be delivered to residents over the next couple of weeks.
CAO and Director of Economic Development, Luc Denault says the new program will help preserve the life of the landfill, in turn saving the town money.
Denault says they purchased a new truck a week or two ago that will be able to collect both garbage and recycling. He says they’re looking to share the truck with other municipalities to save on costs.
The new recycling plan will get underway in early October. Denault says people will be going door to door to help educate residents of the changes.
