Some changes are coming to the garbage pickup schedule in Cochrane. At the end of October the town has decided they will only be picking up garbage every other week.
Municipal Director of Operations and Infrastructure for the Town of Cochrane, Shane Skinner says they opted to make the change in order to save costs during the winter months. Skinner says the cold helps contain the smell of trash. He says this is the first time the town has tried bi-weekly pickups and they will have to wait and see how beneficial it is.
Skinner says residents should be aware that the truck might come by to pick up your garbage at a different time than usual.
The changes will go into effect as of October 31st and everything will go back to normal March 31st.
