Temiskaming OPP Cracking Down on Illegal Prescription Medication

The OPP is saying prescription drug abuse has a serious impact on community safety.

Members of the Temiskaming OPP have responded to incidents involving stolen Fentanyl patches and other prescription medication. Police say any misuse of these drugs can be dangerous or even fatal.

Police are reminding the public that under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, it’s illegal to buy or sell prescription medication.

Some communities across the province are also reporting bootleg Fentanyl which has caused an increase in fatalities. Police say this bootleg Fentanyl could be in the form of powder or counterfeit pills.

If you have any information on suspicious drug activity contact your local police department or Crime Stoppers where you may be eligible for a cash reward.
