Students from grades 9 to 12 are invited to the fourth annual “Growing Together” Youth Gathering.
The two day event will focus on cultural awareness, self-esteem, education, careers and entrepreneurship. The event looks to strengthen ties between indigenous and non-indigenous students living in our community.
The Youth Gathering gets underway Wednesday, September 21st at 9:00am in the Civic Centre.
Economic Development Officer for the Town of Kapuskasing, Andre Robichaud hopes youth who attend the event will be more accepting of other cultures. Robichaud says unlike last year, only 150 students will be able to attend because the types of workshops require smaller groups.
Registration is filling up fast and Robichaud is encouraging all the local schools to get on board.
Special guests this year will include George Couchie and the Young Eagle Signers.
