Illegal Moose Shooting

An illegal shooting of a moose is under investigation by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Timmins Police Constable Nick Osborne says it happened on either August 28th or 29th, when an unknown person shot the animal illegally.  The shooting was about 25 kilometres north of Kamiskotia Lake, on the Abitibi main road in Thornburm Township.

Osborne says discharging a firearm along any traveled portion of a roadway is not only extremely dangerous, it’s also illegal. Hunters are reminded to be safe while out in the bush, and when traveling to and from a hunting location.

Anyone with information on the illegal moose shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or go online to Tip Submit.
