The public is invited to join northeastern OPP units on an upcoming ride-along. It’s a virtual ride-along, and will have OPP Twitter accounts posting their calls for service online, along with any events they respond to. Officers will also be answering any questions submitted over Twitter.
The Cochrane detachment is hosting their virtual ride-along on September 9th from 6:00pm to 12:00am. The Kirkland Lake detachment is hosting their ride-along on September 16th from 6:00pm to 12:00am. All of the events officers respond to will be posted on the Twitter account @OPP_Hire.
This is part of a bigger initiative to attract future police officers to the force. The North East Region Regional Headquarters in North Bay will also be hosting a “Breaking Barriers” mentoring sessions on September 7th as part of the same initiative. There will also be a recruitment day in Sudbury, on September 24th from 7:00am to 6:00pm at Cambrian College.
