The Cochrane Crunch hit the ice for their first pre-season game of the year tonight. After being the top team in the league for most of the season last year, the Crunch were beat out in the division finals of the playoffs. Head Coach and General Manager of the Cochrane Crunch, Ryan Leonard, says although they didn’t come out on top they still consider the season to be a win.
Having sent a number of players to college with scholarships and with others going to the North American Hockey League, the Crunch was forced to rebuild some of their team this year. Leonard says they’ve been recruiting players from all across North America.
Cochrane will have just one exhibition game before hosting the first ever Polar Bear Classic next weekend. Leonard says they will be focusing on getting their lines co-ordinated before heading into the tournament.
Both teams will be looking for strong starts to the pre-season. Puck drops in Iroquois Falls at 7:30pm.
