Pavilion Project in Cochrane Hot Topic at Council Meetings

Mayor Peter Politis says the pavilion project in Cochrane has proved to be an important community issue with people on both sides.

More than 70 people showed up to the council meeting in Cochrane last week where the hot topic was reviving the Lake Commando Arts and Cultural Community Pavilion project.

Last week council voted to return the $1.5-million in funding that the town had received for the project. Politis has asked that council reconsider their decision at the August 30th meeting. Politis says he normally agrees with council but this is not one of those times.

A Facebook page, Small Town Big Possibilities, has been created in support of the project.

With the additional funding the town would have received, the mayor says they would have been able to turn $250,000 of tax payer money into $2-million.
