Some OPP communications centres are receiving upwards of 100 calls a day regarding the Canada Revenue Agency scam. For the past several months, police warned of an ongoing scam targeting residents that live in the area.
Officers would like to remind the public that it’s not necessary to contact the police unless you are a direct victim of fraud. Any calls regarding the scam should be directed to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
The high volume of calls is restricting the OPP’s ability to respond to calls that require immediate action.
