OPP officers with the James Bay detachment would like to remind members of the public there is a provincial wide curfew. Anyone who is under the age of 16 cannot be outside between midnight and 6:00am unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Staff Seargent Baldassare Nuccio says there are benefits to having a curfew in place.
If police see anyone under the age of 16 outside from midnight to 6:00am without a parent or guardian they have the authority to bring them home or somewhere safe.
Nuccio says the laws in place are to protect minors who shouldn’t be wandering around at three in the morning.
