Repairs to Railway St. in Cochrane Will Cost the Town an Additional $2-million

Railway Street in Cochrane is deteriorating and work needs to be done. The federal government has put out a capital investment program which has created a supply and demand issue with contractors. Due to this program, contractors are increasing their rates and their availability is down. There is now $2-million in additional costs associated with repairing the street.

Mayor of the Town of Cochrane, Peter Politis says the longer they wait to repair the road, ultimately the more expensive it will be. Politis says some work will begin this year but it’s a big project.

The mayor also says that Railway Street has been around for longer than the Town of Cochrane itself, so it was just a matter of time before repairs needed to be done.
