Ontario Investing $100-Million in Home and Community Care

The Province of Ontario is investing $100-million this year in home and community care. Of that amount about $5.6-million will go to the North East. Most of the funding will go towards expanding services offered for high need clients. These individuals will receive care that includes nursing, personal support and therapy. The rest of the money will go to in home support such as personal care and medication assistance.

An additional 350,000 hours of nursing care, 1.3-million hours of personal support, 600,000 hours of respite services for caregivers and 100,000 hours of rehabilitation services will be added thanks to this funding.

This additional funding is part of Ontario’s 2015 budget commitment which will see $750-million invested into home and community care over three years. These initiatives support the provinces plan to improve and expand home and community care.
