Increased Bear Encounters in a Small Town in Northern Ontario

Residents of a small town in Northern Ontario are living in constant fear of bears in the community. CTV reports residents in Larder Lake, located just outside of Kirkland Lake, have reported 18 bear encounters this year.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says some berries that bears usually eat aren’t ready yet, so they’re looking for other sources of food. CTV says the ministry is setting up bear traps in the area and once they are trapped the animals will be relocated.
