Family Fishing Week Begins Following Long Weekend

From July 2nd to the 10th it’s Family Fishing Week in Ontario.

The provincial event allows anglers to fish without purchasing a license for the duration of the week.

The MNRF says fishing is more than a hobby, it’s a significant boon to the economy with Outdoors Cards representing an estimated $37-million in revenue every year.

Anglers must still abide by provincial guidelines and regulations pertaining to limits, protected species and sanctuaries.

Ontario also has its Tackleshare program allowing anglers to borrow gear.

There are locations in Moonbeam, Hearst and Timmins participating in the program.

More info from the MNRF can be found here and you can check in with a local Tackleshare partner here.
