The north east LHIN is one of the many healthcare organizations celebrating and recognizing the 20th anniversary of National Aboriginal Day.
The Local Aboriginal Health Committee is a body which helps the network work with and within many of the aboriginal communities in northern Ontario.
The LHIN says it estimates there are about 60,000 northerners in First Nations communities.
It says staffs most recently have been involved with mental health and addictions services in Attawapiskat following the community’s state of emergency declared in the spring.
