FONOM Pleased with Progress of Energy East Project

FONOM is pleased the National Energy Board will be moving forward with TransCanada’s Energy East Project.

The pipeline project will now enter a two-year review stage before it goes to Parliament for a final decision.

FONOM has supported the project due to its potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts on northern Ontario.

One of the pipeline’s biggest draws is the nearly 4,000 jobs it will create during its development and construction and around 1,500 more once its operational.

Presidents of FONOM Alan Spacek says it will help reduce the amount of oil being transported by both rail and truck in northern communities.
