The North East LHIN has just completed a comprehensive review of addiction services; its strengths and its weaknesses.
The Centre of Addiction and Mental Health’s Doctor Brian Rush compiled the study going over the holes, the strengths and the challenges of treating mental health in the north.
The LHIN says it may be the most comprehensive study of its kind for the region.
Rush says there are many unique challenges facing the north due to its sparse, rural communities.
The review contains recommendations for planning, hospitals, residential treatment and services, withdrawal management, addiction medicine and community treatment.
The information will be used by the network to better improve its services throughout north eastern Ontario moving forward.
