A new community pool is something on the town of Kapuskasing’s radar and its already been approved with some funding.
Town council announced in Monday’s meeting that the NOHFC has approved a 1$-million funding grant.
The town’s CAO Yves Labelle says a lot more will be needed for the project and is moving forward with FedNor applications.
The idea has been tossed around in council for months, including its integration into the Smart Energy Project.

He says there’s a lot more which will go into the possible project, including public feedback.
The Arena Smart Energy project aims to take the Sports Palace almost entirely off the grid.
If a new pool is approved somewhere down the line, it would be part of the energy efficient infrastructure.
