Provincial New Democrat Gilles Bisson is tackling the issue of the TSSA’s inability to province service in French.
The Technical Standards Safety Association carries out safety inspections for the province in many sectors of business and industry.
Bisson says this is a huge issue for the north as his riding, Timmins-James Bay, has many Francophone communities within it.
He says he’s concerned whether or not the oversight was an omission or was intentional.
Bisson says both Minister of Government and Consumer Service David Orazietti and Minister of Francophone Affairs Madeleine Meilleur seemed very surprised the evaluations weren’t available in French.
He says the problem likely trails back to the duties being handed over to the province years ago.
