The growing success of local businesses has attracted the annual northern meeting for the Ministry of Agriculture.
It’s the first time the meet has been held in Kapuskasing in well over a decade.
Manager of Economic Development for the town of Kapuskasing Andre Robichaud says the tone of agricultural business in the area has changed considerably.
He says four or five years ago none of this was here and modern technology is helping agriculture be competitive in an area that’s remained an untapped source until recently.
Robichaud is referring the growing success and prominence of local businesses like Hearst’s Loon Vodka, the Fromagerie Kapuskoise and the Demonstration Farm.
Reps from the ministry spent three days in the area touring those operations.
