Following the announcement of possible marijuana legalization in spring of 2017, Kapuskasing’s application for a medicinal marijuana facility likely won’t be affected.
The announcement came from Canada’s Health Minister, Jane Phillpott last week at a special session of the UN.
Kapuskasing’s Manager of the EDC, Andre Robichaud says if anything, the announcement could help the application.
He says there are so few licensed facilities already in the country, Kapuskasing would be the only one in the region, possibly serving a massive area and creating jobs in the process.
Robichaud says while the town only applied last in 2015, the planning stages have been years in the making.
