Auxiliary Unit Receiving Praise During National Volunteer Week

The Auxiliary Unit is being recognized by the OPP during national volunteer week.

Auxiliary Units across the province represent about 200,000 hours dedicated to policing every year in a volunteer capacity.

Those members assist officers in the field and serve as a much needed component of enforcement and manpower in northern communities like Kapuskasing, Hearst, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls.

James Bay Detachment Commander, Inspector Mike Pilon says it’s a great way for young hopeful officers to get experience and be a part of the community.
