Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre is firing back that he misled the public on FedNor funding increasing over the next two years.
The accusation came from New Democrat Carol Hughes of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing who says FedNor is not getting extra money.
But Serre says over the next two years, FedNor will administer millions of extra dollars to help northern communities with 150 projects to help us celebrate our 150th birthday in 2017.
Serre admits the extra money won’t be applied to the agency’s base funding but adds the two years gives the feds time to tackle this issue.
Serre says northern communities have already started applying for Canada 150 funds through FedNor.
