The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities says it’s pleased with changes made in the new federal budget.
President of FONOM Al Spacek says the commitment to both repairing and developing infrastructure in the long and short term, could benefit northern municipalities greatly.
It says the $120 billion dedicated to water and wastewater systems, affordable housing and initiatives geared towards fighting climate change are all welcome additions.
This comes as neither the Ring of Fire or the restoration of FedNor’s funding were in the budget.
