Expected Points on Council Agenda

Kapuskasing council is set to meet after the long weekend and is expected to be giving its recommendation in supporting Sudbury’s resolution to help attain a PET scanner.

The province has offered to pay the $1.6 million a year operating costs for the scanner once residents have raised enough to purchase it.

The PET scanner would be a great asset to northern Ontario in terms of cancer treatment and diagnosis.

Other municipalities will be looking at the resolution as well.

Also expected on today’s agenda is discussion on the location of a new drive-thru parking meter with the activation date of down town’s.

Council chose to defer the decision after multiple locations for the accessible option were met with criticism.

The town is looking to install it in an open location that’s safe to the public and will also allow commuters to pick up pay-and-display tickets to use across the whole town.

The meeting is set for 5:30pm at the Civic Centre on Monday March 28th.
