New Fire Response Facility Coming to the Northeast

The MNR says construction on the Northeast’s newest Fire Response Facility will begin next month.

The new digs will be integrated into North Bay’s airport to combat the over 1,000 wildfires caused every year in north eastern Ontario.

The current operation is over 60 years old and lacks many modern resources according to the MNR.

The facility will have dedicated aircraft committed to it, including two CL-415 water bombers; two bird-dog planes and two helicopters for observation and firefighting operations.
