Hughes Speaks at Parliament to Combat Racism

Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes is calling on other elected officials to set examples for their communities in combatting racism.

Hughes says racism towards indigenous peoples in Canada is a sad part of our heritage.

This comes as Hughes spoke at the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination yesterday in the House of Commons.

She says the impact of racism isn’t just a social one; it’s mental, physical and economic.
