Kapuskasing’s project to take the Sports Palace almost completely off the grid could begin as soon as May 1st.
The town’s CAO Yves Labelle says the Arena Smart Energy Project looks to not only save huge on hydro costs but will make ice making and heating the arena more efficient.
The prospect of a new pool could also be connected to the energy saving project, feeding off the systems which will already be installed.
This comes after its new roof was completed, giving the old arena a completely modern facelift.
