Spring Bear Hunt Pilot Being Expanded by Province

The province has decided to expand the spring bear hunt pilot by five years.

The MNR says it wants to gather more information from the hunting community and the plan’s impact.

The province says it’s a result of the feedback it received last year.

The pilot program involves all 88 wildlife management units that currently hold a spring bear hunt in Ontario and it effects non-resident hunters.

The MNR says all rules and regulations are still in effect with the expansion continuing.

Some offences, such as hunting females with their cubs can rack up to $25,000 in fines.
