Kapuskasing Airport Reports Fuel Tank Contamination

The Kapuskasing airport will be addressing a minor contamination from old, in-ground fuel storage tanks.

The town’s CAO, Yves Labelle says the reason for the installation of the current above-ground tanks is to avoid this very situation in the future.

He says modernizing the Kap airport is a priority as it’s the largest north of Timmins in the region.

Labelle says even though the contamination is minor, the town has to take it seriously and already has contractors lined up to take care of it in the right way.

The Kap airport serves as a designated evacuation centre in the case of crisis for any nearby communities.
