Stretch of Northern Highway Expanding

Northern highway infrastructure is getting some much needed attention.

Mile by mile, Highway 69 is being four-laned.

The province has announced the next stretch of roadway that will be expanded to four lanes.

Its 14 kilometers long in the Highway 607 and 522 region.

The cost is 173-million dollars.

The work involves adding 10 bridges, two of which will cross over the French and Pickerel rivers.

Work to clear the land will take place over the remainder of the winter and the expansion will take five years.

Once complete, only 68 kilometres remain to connect Sudbury to Toronto with a four lane highway.
