A Busy Night for Town Council

Quarterly reports for each of the town’s sectors and a look onto the horizon is promising for upcoming projects in the town of Kapuskasing.

Public works will be continuing its Ottawa Street Project, the rest of the Highway 11 Connecting Link Upgrade project as well as many quality of life improvements on our local roads.

Council wrapped up its first session of 2016, supporting a resolution to reclassify our highways for better maintenance and saving on projects which ran under budget.

Manager of Economic Development, Andre Robichaud shared a report with updates on the expanding experimental farm operations, the open application for a medical marijuana facility and the town’s bid for the AAA Junior Hockey Championship.

The town announced over $2,000 would be donated to the Nalin Mehta Santa Clause Memorial Fund from parking meter profits.

This came as Wayne Major from the Kinsmen Club announced its five members will be retiring this year.

Major says the club has a few organizations in mind to take over the fund and the fund remains financially sound.
