Another northern Ontario MP will be filling a prominent role in Ottawa effective immediately.

Charlie Angus, the Member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay has been elected to as the NDP’s Caucus Chair.

The NDP was the only party without a chair and he’ll be presiding over all meetings involving other NDP members of parliament.

The MP of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, Carol Hughes was nominated Assistant Deputy Speaker for Parliament last month.
