OPP: Ice Safety Still a Concern Even Though Temperatures Dropping

The James Bay OPP says it was called to a scene near Moosonee in response to a man walking across the ice on Moose River.

The Fire Department and EMS were also dispatched.

Police say attempts to communicate with the man were ignored, as he got within 20 feet of Moose Factory on the river before turning back to his snow mobile on another island nearby.

The OPP says always be careful of thin ice especially given the mild fall and winter in the North.

Temperatures today are expected to rise well over the seasonal norm to five degrees.
