New Programs Rolling out from Friendship Centre

The Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres is rolling out three programs to service communities like Cochrane, Kapuskasing and Timmins.

Marcia Chum from the Kapuskasing Friendship Centre says the Healthy Living program has private sessions and public services.

The program provides lunches at KDHS every Thursday in Kapuskasing, offers a Mama’s Fit Class complete with childcare at the centre and has a Rock Box Cross Fit program component.

Chum says the AKWE:GO program focuses on cultural development and knowledge.

She says the third program targets at-risk youth in the community called the Wasa-Nabin and it provides interventions, healthy eating tips and much more.

She says the services are not restricted to the Indigenous community, anyone can sign up.
